Education Briefs for Nov. 12, 2011: SAPP fundraiser slated for today at McDonald’s

An all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast fundraiser for the Substance Abuse Prevention Program takes place today from 6 to 10 a.m. at McDonalds, 1080 W. Victory Way.

Tickets are $3 each and can be purchased at the door. Proceeds pay for scholarships, after-school programs and other initiatives designed to give students safe alternatives to drugs and alcohol.

CNCC hosts nursing open house

Colorado Northwestern Community College will host an open house about its nursing program from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday in room 219 at the Craig campus, 2801 W. Ninth St.

Potential students may learn more about the program, the job outlook for nurses and how to get started. For more information, call 824-1104.

CMS parent committee to meet Monday

Craig Middle School’s School Advisory Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the CMS library, 915 Yampa Ave.

All parents of CMS students are invited to attend.

MCHS slated to host food drive

A food drive will take place at Moffat County High School from Monday through Nov. 30.

The event is open to students and community members, and all donations will go toward the KRAI Holiday Drive.

Nonperishable food items can be dropped off at the high school, 900 Finley Lane.

Students in the third-hour class that collects the most food will be rewarded with a breakfast.

MCHS Student Council collecting cell phones

The Moffat County High School Student Council is collecting used cell phones and accessories for the Cell Phones for Soldiers program.

Donated items will be recycled, and the proceeds pay for phone cards for soldiers.

Donations may be made at Craig City Hall, 300 W. Fourth St.; Moffat County Courthouse, 221 W. Victory Way; or the high school, 900 Finley Lane.

MCHS Class of 1992 schedules reunion

The Moffat County High School Class of 1992 has set the date for its 20-year class reunion.

The reunion is scheduled for June 14 to 17, 2012.

The organizing committee scheduled the reunion for the same weekend as the Whittle the Wood Rendezvous to provide classmates and their families a broad range of activities.

Details for the schedule of reunion events will be released at a later date.
