Education Briefs: Board of Education District 1 letters of intent due
People interested representing the District 1 on the school board from appointment in August until regular elections in November have until 3 p.m. on Aug. 11 to submit a letter of intention. To qualify candidates must not have been convicted of a sexual offense against a child, must be a registered voter and have been registered in Craig for the past twelve months.
• Live in District.
• Be registered to vote in Craig.
• Have been registered to vote in Craig for the past 12 months.
• File a letter of intention with Secretary to the Board of Education Heather Higgins by 3 p.m. August 11 at the office of the Superintendent at 775 Yampa Ave. in Craig.
• Be available for an interview during the regular board public work session to start at 6:30 p.m. on August 24.

Guest (Substitute) Teacher Orientation Monday
Anyone interested in being a guest teacher for the Moffat County School District is invited to attend an orientation meeting starting at 8 a.m. on Aug. 14 at the Administrative Building, 775 Yampa Ave. Topics will include changes happening with the school district and a short training on the AESOP system . Stories in the Park Tuesday

Learn how to safely view the solar eclipse Wednesday
Hayden Public Library is holding a special Solar Eclipse presentation at 6 p.m. on Aug. 16. Those who attend will go home with a free pair of eclipse viewing glasses. Register online to participate in high school athletics
A new online sports registration program is up and running for students interested in signing-up for sports. To register: moffatcounty-ar.rschooltoday.com. Registration and physicals must be completed prior to the student’s first practise.
Sports physicals should be dropped off at the high school office or scanned and submitted via the online registration form. Fees will still be paid in person. Back-to-School Fairs Aug. 12 and Aug. 19
Love INC will hold a Block Party and Back-To-School Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 12 in Dinosaur and a Back-to-School Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Aug. 19 at Breeze Street Park in Craig. Children and parents from preschool to grade 12 are invited to attend. Community agencies and churches will be onhand to share information, offer services and provide fun free activities for kids such as food, games, prizes, cloths, hair cuts will be provided by Styles Fifth Avenue and more, while supplies last. A parent or guardian must be present with their students to receive services and products. The community is asked to consider donating school supplies to Love INC for students in need. Parents are encouraged to apply for school supplies in advance to speed their registration process at the fair. Applications are now available for Collage Board
The Moffat County Affiliated Junior College District Board of Control elections will be held on November 7, 2017. Two four-year term positions are open on the board. Anyone interested in running for these seats must be a registered voter and reside within Moffat County. In addition, it is necessary to submit a notice of intention to be a candidate and a nomination petition signed by at least 50 registered voters residing in Moffat County. The above mentioned forms are available to be picked up now and must be returned to Denise Mosher, Moffat County Affiliated Junior College District recorder and executive assistant to Vice President of Craig Campus-Student Services at CNCC, 2801 West 9th Street, by 5:00 p.m. on August 29.

Moffat County Library story times and themes
Storytimes for children are hosted at 10 and 11:30 a.m. Thursdays in the children’s room at the Craig branch of Moffat County Libraries. The library asks parents and children to come early, as entering the children’s room late causes distraction.
Summer book sale benefits the library
New books have been added to the Friends of Library Book Sale. Books are located in the North East corner of the Library and new titles are added weekly. To shop, visit the Craig Branch of the Moffat County Library at 570 Green St., Craig.
Summer Food Program underway
The Moffat County School District and the Boys & Girls Club of Craig will provide free meals for children throughout the summer.
Meal are provided to all children without charge or discrimination, and the same meals are provided regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, age or disability.
Lunch will be provided from 11:30 a.m. to noon. A snack will be available from 3:30 to 3:45 p.m. June 5 through Aug. 18 at the Boys & Girls Club of Craig, 1324 E. U.S. Highway 40.
Lunch will also be provided from 11:30 a.m. to noon July 11 through Aug. 19 at Sandrock Elementary School, 201 E Ninth St.
