East staff and students: Thanks for support

To the editor:

The East Elementary Eagles would like to recognize our students, staff and community for the incredible jobs they did raising money for Hurricane Katrina victims. Our change drive efforts raised $1,400. This amount is being matched by City Market and Kroger Foods, bringing the total to $2,800, which will be donated to the Red Cross. Thank you City Market for these matching funds.

Our sincere thanks goes out to the many businesses that helped us by putting out a collection bin. There are too many businesses to list here, but know that you are each appreciated very much. We would also like to thank Moffat County National Bank for opening a free savings account for us while we were collecting.

We are happy to live in such a wonderful community where people see beyond their own needs and give so graciously to others. This has been a true life lesson for our kids on the spirit of giving.
