Eagle crash-lands in Craig: On the Record — Jan. 25 through 27

Friday, Jan. 25
9:08 a.m. On the 600 block of Wickes Avenue, officers with the Craig Police Department responded to a report of domestic violence and arrested a 19-year-old transient woman on suspicion of false reporting to authorities, attempt to influence a public servant, unlawful possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was also served with a warrant out of Routt County.
1:15 p.m. In Craig, officers received a Safe2Tell report and are investigating.
1:30 p.m. On the 300 block of Barclay Street, a Kenworth truck hit an eagle, resulting in damage. The fate of the eagle is unknown.
2:20 p.m. Near the intersection of Mack Lane and West First Street, officers received a report of a suspicious man walking back and forth across the street screaming. Officers contacted the man and learned he was upset about an accident.
4:56 p.m. On the 600 block of Barclay Street, officers responded to a report from a man who claimed a woman had stolen everything in his house “including his bank account.” The incident is under investigation.
5:59 p.m. On the 700 block of Riford Road, officers responded to a disturbance between a caller and a friend’s son. The incident is under investigation.
6:51 p.m. On the 2000 block of West Victory Way, officers investigated a theft report. A woman was said to have taken a cart full of merchandise to her car without paying for it. The incident is under investigation.
Saturday, Jan. 26
2:08 a.m. On the 200 block of East Victory Way, officers assisted a drunken pedestrian. A witness said that a man walking on the north side of the courthouse had fallen over. The man was transported to the hospital.
3:56 p.m. On the 2000 block of West Victory Way, officers responded to a report of a dog bite. A citation was issued.
3:59 p.m. In Craig, officers are investigating report of possible child abuse or neglect.
4:30 p.m. In Craig, officers are investigating report of possible child abuse or neglect.
5:43 p.m. On the 600 block of Wickes Avenue, a caller said neighbors were harassing her by screaming at her through the walls. The caller called back before officers arrived to say that everything had quieted back down.
7:44 p.m. On the 900 block of Finley Lane, officers took a report of a stolen cellphone.
8:12 p.m. On the 800 block of East Seventh Street, officers responded to a report of possible gunfire. When they arrived, officers did not hear any shots.
Sunday, Jan. 27
2:43 a.m Officers investigated a report of a fight in progress. When they arrived, the fight was over, and though three people were injured, no one wanted to press charges.
1:24 p.m. On the 300 block of Colorado Highway 13, officers responded to a report of a possible domestic violence incident in progress. A couple in a teal Ford Escort were reported to be fighting. When officers arrived, the man exited the vehicle. No provable crime was apparent. One of the parties wished to speak with a victims advocate.
2:07 p.m. On the 700 block of East Seventh Street, officers responded to a report that two juveniles walking down the street had thrown a snowball at the caller’s window, upsetting the caller, but causing no damage. Officers were unable to locate the juveniles.
5:39 p.m. Near Ashley Road in Craig Cemetery, officers responded to a single-vehicle crash resulting in injuries and property damage. The driver of a northbound pickup truck veered off the road to the east, plowed through a snowbank, and crashed into a tree. The driver and two passengers were transported to The Memorial Hospital for treatment, which included fractures in the case of one of the passengers. The vehicle was towed. The incident is under investigation, and no further information was immediately available.
