CRAIG — A campaign to raise a million dollars to improve and expand health care in Northwest Colorado started in style at a Chamber Mixer on Thursday, Jan. 11.

The first large donation — $25,000, from Bank of the San Juans — was given in support of the construction of a medical office building.

“I’m very happy to have Bank of San Juans as a partner. They are going to be a participant in our financing, and I appreciate the donation toward the project,” said Memorial Regional Health CEO Andy Daniels.

Bank executives were on hand to present the donation during the Chamber Mixer, held at The Memorial Hospital on Thursday.

“First of all, I personally lived in Craig from 2004 to 2008. I have a vested interest in Craig and always have. I loved it when I lived here. The bank understands the community, and we wanted to be a part of it,” Bank of the San Juans Chief Business Development Officer Todd Young said. “We want to be a part of any kind of economic development that is going to transpire in Northwest Colorado. We want to provide a nice environment for our family and our kids, and we believe in investing the in the communities we serve. This was a no-brainer.”

With the campaign officially open, hopes are high the community will give generously.

“I want to thank the Bank of the San Jauns, and we hope we get the same level of contribution from the other banks in the community,” said MRH Foundation Executive Director Eva Peroulis.
