Donald D. Smith (1944-2005)

Donald Smith died Sept. 10, 2005. He was 61.

Donald was born Aug. 8, 1944, in Denver, to Harold Homer and Elizabeth Irene Smith.

Smith spent his childhood in Aurora and graduated from Aurora High School. He was retired from the trucking industry. He was a Vietnam Veteran with the U.S. Army from 1968-1970, and in the reserves until 1974. He loved horses, farming, rodeo bronc riding, agriculture, fishing, hunting, and the outdoors.

Smith is survived by his wife, Frankie Anderson-Smith who he married in Grand Junction on Feb. 14, 1985; sons Jesse Enoch Smith of Madison, Wis., and Gene L. Clark of Grand Junction; daughters, Nikora Jean (David) Meyers of Craig, Monica June (Franklin) Case of Steamboat, and Jeanhnenc L. (Doug Evans) Wareham of Mesa; brothers Wayne Smith, Harold Homer Smith, Jr., and Milton Smith; sisters, Nancy Lee Smith, and Irene Iris Adamson; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Smith was preceded in death by Thomas Dwayne Smith.

Graveside memorial services were held Sept. 14, 2005, at 3:00 p.m., at Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado with Bob Carey of New Haven Church in Palisade officiating. Burial was also held at Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Grand Junction.
