Rodney and Penny Southwick of Craig announce the engagement of their daughter, Julie, to John Distelhorst, son of Tom and Dana Distelhorst of Lebanon, Ill.

The wedding will be on May 31, 2002, at the Church of Latter-day Saints Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah.

A reception will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 1 at the LDS Chapel in Craig.

Southwick is a Moffat County High School graduate. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in linguistics and teaching English as a second language.

She is currently teaching in Colorado Springs as an English language development teacher for third- and fourth-grade students at Monterey Elementary School.

Distelhorst will graduate from the Air Force Academy in May with a degree in biology and French.

The couple served a LDS church mission in Madagascar and hopes to return to the country to help the people there.

The couple will be stationed at Patrick Air Force Base in Cocoa Beach, Fla., where Distelhorst will work as a scientist working on biological warfare defense.
