Delbert L. Scott


Hayden, Colo., resident Delbert L. Scott died June 4, 2002, at the Colorado State Veterans Nursing Home. He was 78.

Scott was born April 28, 1924, in Hayden to Frank and Lena (Hultey) Scott. He was raised and attended school in Hayden.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a rancher and farmer all his life.

On April 2, 1950, he married Jean Hurd in Denver, Colo.

Scott was a member of the American Legion, the roping club and the Old Timers Rodeo Association. He thoroughly enjoyed roping. He was a part of the color guard for many years at the Routt County Fair and he was always willing to help with the chutes during the events.

Scott is survived by his daughter, Sally (Joey) Salazar, of Hayden; sons, Glen (Linda) Scott, of Sand Point, Ind., and Lyn (Teri) Scott , of Craig; sisters, Dorothy Gray, of Craig and Bonnie Gillan, of Loveland, Colo.; and grandchildren, Ryan, Matthew, Bryson and Keith Scott and Holi and Chase Salazar.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Howard and Harold; and his wife, Jean.

Services were June 21, 2002, at the Hayden Rodeo Grounds with Janet Babish officiating.
