Deadline nearing for grandparent awards
The deadline is approaching for grandparents from Western Colorado to enter a new scholarship giveaway from CollegeInvest, a nonprofit division of the Colorado Department of Higher Education.
Two $5,000 college savings plans will be awarded to grandchildren of Western Slope residents who submit essays of 250 words or less answering the question: “What are your hopes or dreams for your grandchild or grandchildren, and how would a college education help make that possible?”
Entries must be received by Nov. 30.
Western Colorado residents with grandchildren age 12 or younger may enter online at http://www.collegeinvest.org/grandparents or request an entry form by calling (303) 376-8844 or e-mailing their full name and mailing address to grandparents@collegeinvest.org.
In all, the division will give $50,000 through the scholarship program.
