David Morris: Park should be valued

To the editor:

Loudy-Simpson Park is one of the places that really makes Craig a great place to live.

Not every town can boast of a beautiful park alongside a scenic river where people can walk their dogs, view wildlife, engage in sports activities or just get a little whiff of nature, all within walking distance of town.

Now it seems our county commissioners are willing to throw that away for a chance to reap a few dollars off of drilling leases, without even bothering with stipulations on where the drilling might take place within the park.

I rue the day – and it could be soon – when I hear myself saying, “Yeah, there used to be a beautiful park there.”

Drill, baby, drill.
