David and Tresa Moulton: Glad governor has taken interest

David and Tresa Moulton

We are responding to the article, “Letter critical of Governor,” published in the Craig Daily Press and Steamboat Today on Wednesday, July 18.

Frankly we’re glad that the governor has taken interest in our corner of the state and is concerned about balance in Western Colorado.

We are surrounded by a gas development frenzy.

We are seeing the impacts of gas development throughout Western Colorado, and this is not what we want to dominate our landscapes.

We live in this area because of the unparalleled natural beauty and the richness of the unique landscapes and wildlife that enhance our quality of life.

What is the rush to develop special places like Vermillion Basin when most of the Western Slope is already available for leasing? Let’s leave some of these places in their natural state for future generations.

The Governor’s foresight and vision is critical in a time when other communities are wishing they had planned better.
