10 and 11:30 a.m. Dragons at the library – Stories and activities about these magical beasts are part of this week’s Moffat County Library story times.

1 to 2 p.m. The Moffat County Department of Social Services distributes food allocated by the United States Department of Agriculture at the Dinosaur Social Services building. Families that receive USDA commodities must be recertified each year. Photo identification, proof of address, income or current eligibility is required. Call Social Services at 824-8282.

Friday, Oct. 12

9 a.m. to noon. A homeschool co-op class takes place in the building under the grandstands at the Moffat County Fairgrounds. Call Michelle at 620-0283.

9 a.m. to noon. There is a pumpkin giveaway and Love INC-sponsored coat, hat and mitten drive at three locations: Homemaker Furnishings at 468 Yampa Ave.; Stillwater Motors at 458 Ranney St.; and Black Dog Cycles at 464 Ranney St. Elementary school-aged children can pick out one free pumpkin at no charge while supplies last. Locations also will accept coats, hats and mittens for Love INC to distribute within the community.

6:30 to 11 p.m. Craig Chamber of Commerce’s fifth annual CrabFest takes place at the Moffat County Fairgrounds Pavilion. Call 824-5689.

Saturday, Oct. 13

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The American Legion Auxiliary hosts a Second Annual Indoor Garage Sale at the post headquarters, 1055 County Road 7. Call 824-3625 or 824-3085.

1 to 4 p.m. The Blue Ribbon Commission for Health Care Reform hosts a public meeting inside the ballroom at the Holiday Inn of Craig. The meeting is open to the public.

Sunday, Oct. 14

1:30 p.m. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary bingo is at the VFW Hall, 419 E. Victory Way. It is open to the public. Sunday bingo sessions occur every week. Call Mary Walters at 824-2923.

3 p.m. The Moffat County Chapter of Routt County Habitat for Humanity will hold its Dedication Ceremony. The public is invited to attend at the house site, 745 Yampa Avenue. Call 824-3990.

Monday, Oct. 15

4 to 6 p.m. The MS Support Group meets at the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association’s Craig office at 745 Russell St. Guest speakers will be Annie Smyth and Priscilla Magnall, representatives of the National MS Society. Call Kathy or Sandy Beran at the VNA at 824-8233.

6 to 9 p.m. First day of a weeklong hunter safety course at the Hayden High School media room. Classes run 6 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday. Class meets at gun range Saturday morning, time to be announced. Cost is $5. A minimum of 10 students is needed. Call 870-2197 or 276-3338.

Tuesday, Oct. 16

4 to 7 p.m. Craig Intermediate School has Parent Teacher conferences. No appointment is necessary. Progress reports will be handed out. Conference dates also are available on Thursday.

6 to 7 p.m. The Special Angels Parent Program meets at the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association’s office in Craig, 745 Russell St. Call Amanda Boswell at 824-6036 or e-mail

6:30 p.m. The Fall Vocal Clinic plays at Moffat County High School auditorium. The clinic is expected to draw 200 to 250 choir students from the Western Slope. Each high school will perform two songs, and then there will be five to six pieces performed by all choirs together.
