Noon The Moffat County Healthy People 2010 initiative invites those interested in preparing healthier meals at home to participate in the Healthy Lunch program at the CSU Extension Office, 539 Barclay St. Participants will help prepare eight quick and nutritious recipes, receive a recipe booklet and learn more about nutritious eating. Cost is $2 per person.
5:15 p.m. The Northwest Colorado Legal Service Project, the Northwest Colorado Bar Association and the Moffat County Library are hosting “Ask a Lawyer Night,” at the Craig branch of the Moffat County Library. This service is free to low-income residents. Call 276-2161.

7 a.m. The Moffat County Law Day Breakfast is at the Holiday Inn until 8 a.m. This fund-raiser supports the community activities of the Northwest Colorado Bar Association. The tickets are $10. Call Don Lindley at 629-5796.
8:30 a.m. Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) meets at Calvary Baptist, 1050 Yampa Ave., until 11 a.m. The cost is $6, which includes breakfast, crafts and speakers. Children are welcome. Call 824-0101.

6 p.m. Communities Overcoming Methamphetamine Abuse (COMA) fund-raising committee will meet at the School Administration Building. The public is invited to attend and participate.

6:30 p.m. A basic weather spotter training session will be held at the Moffat County Fairground Pavilion until 8:30 p.m.

10 a.m. Children’s story-hour is held at 10 and 11 a.m. each Thursday morning at the Moffat County Library, 570 Green St. Call 824-5116.
Noon In observance of National Prayer Day there will be a prayer gathering around the flagpole at the Moffat County Courthouse.
6 p.m. Craig Sea Sharks meet at Moffat County High School Cafeteria. Coaches will be present, registration will need to be completed, and member will receive schedules. The team will also be ordering team swim suits.
6:30 p.m. Northwest Colorado Energy Producers are hosting a dinner meeting in Steamboat at the Yacht Club, 811 Yampa. Tickets are $29 per person. The guest speaker is T. Wright Dickinson.
8 p.m. Al-Anon, a support group for family and friends of loved ones afflicted with alcohol abuse, meets until 9 p.m. at 50 S. Ranney St. Call 824-7320.
Friday, May 6
9:30 a.m. The community playgroup for infants to 5-year-olds and their parents meets until 10:30 a.m. at the Early Education Center in the Moffat County School Administration Building, 775 Yampa Ave.
10 a.m. The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association is offering immunizations New clients should bring in their records 24 to 48 hours before their appointments. Children younger than 18 must be accompanied by their parents or present a signed permission slip from a parent. Medicaid recipients should bring their card. Call VNA at 824-8233.
2 p.m. Queeda Mantle, author of “The Mantle Ranch,” will be at a book signing at the Museum of Northwest Colorado until 5 p.m. This fresh glimpse into the intriguing history of the Mantle family and their ranch in the Yampa River Canyon.
6:30 p.m. Bingo is hosted every Friday night at the Elks Club, 43 W Victory Way. Children are welcome if accompanied by parents. Call Frank Sadvar at 824-3557.
Saturday, May 7
9 a.m. Hands-on Quilters is sponsoring a special Quilt History Day with members from the Colorado Quilting Council. Those interested in having their quilts documented should plan to attend. To schedule an appointment call Cheryl Bush at 824-2567.
Noon St. Michael’s Catholic Church is hostingits annual Mother’s Day luncheon, which will include a fashion show. Everyone is asked to bring a favorite salad and come celebrate motherhood. Call Mary Buchanan at 824-5912.
5 p.m. The VFW Ladies Auxiliary hosts a family-style free dinner for senior citizens at VFW, 419 E. Victory Way the first Saturday of the month. Proceeds from VFW bingo helps sponsor the event. Call 824-7145.
Sunday, May 8
9 a.m. There is a Mother’s Day Breakfast at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 678 School St., sponsored and served by the Knights of Columbus right after 9 a.m. Mass. The cost is $3 per person except mothers and children under 12 are free.
