8 a.m. Join local bird enthusiast Nancy Merrill for a guided bird walk at the Yampa River preserve on Carpenter Ranch, just east of Hayden. Enjoy the peaceful morning scenery and learn about the avian residents of the Carpenter Ranch.

11:45 a.m. Moffat County on the Move meets at the CSU Cooperative Extension Office, 539 Barclay St., until 1 p.m. Call 824-9108.



6 p.m. The co-ed adult recreational soccer group will meet on Wednesdays at Woodbury Park throughout the summer. There is no cost to play, but competitors should bring their own shingaurds and water. Call Bill Sawer for more information, 824-0116.

7 p.m. The Craig Ministerial Alliance and Moffat County Young Life would like to invite all Moffat County seniors, their families and friends to a Baccalaureate Service at the high school auditorium. A reception will follow the service.



Thursday, May 26

5 p.m. The Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Brown’s Amusements Carnival will be open until midnight at the Moffat County Fairgrounds.

7 p.m. HEARTBEAT, a support group for people who have lost a loved one to suicide, meets at Serendipity, 576 Yampa Ave. Call Barb Seed or Tracey Lathrop at 824-6541.

8 p.m. Al-Anon, a support group for family and friends of loved ones afflicted with alcohol abuse, meets until 9 p.m. at 50 S. Ranney St. Call 824-7320.

Friday, May 27

9 a.m. The Community Play Group will meet at City Park. This is a change of the usual meeting place. Call Gay Albers at 824-0371. The group is for children age 5 and younger and their parents.

8:30 a.m. Dog Agility in the Park event, a NADAC sactioned trial, will take place in Maybell through Monday. The event is free. Spectators are reminded to bring lawn chairs. See dogs and their handlers work their way through obstacle courses, jumps, tunnels and weaves. Call Lori at 824-4159.

10 a.m. The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association is offering immunizations every Monday and Friday. New clients should bring in their records 24 to 48 hours before their appointment dates. Children younger than 18 must be accompanied by their parents or present a signed permission slip from a parent. Medicaid recipients should bring their cards. Call VNA at 824-8233.

5 p.m. The Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Brown’s Amusements Carnival will be open until midnight at the Moffat County Fairgrounds.

7 p.m. Battle of the Bands at the Moffat County Fairgrounds barn until 10 p.m. Admission is $5.

Saturday, May 28

The Boys & Girls Club will be closed and will re-open for the summer beginning June 13.

10 a.m. Moffat County High School graduation will be held inside the MCHS gymnasium.

1 p.m. Grand Olde West Days parade will be in downtown Craig. After the parade, there will be chariot races at the Moffat County Fairgrounds racetrack. Admission for the races is $5.

3 p.m. Antique Tractor Pull will be downtown.

7 p.m. Bull Riding Competition, in conjunction with Grand Olde West Days, will be held until 9 p.m. at the Moffat County Fairgrounds arena. Advance tickets are available at the Chamber of Commerce and Under the Aspen Tree.

Sunday, May 29

Noon Antique Tractor Pull will be downtown.

1 p.m. Chariot races will be at the Moffat County Fairgrounds racetrack. Admission is $5.

4 p.m. As part of Grand Olde West Days, there will be a chili cook-off until 6 p.m. at the fairgrounds grandstands.

Monday, May 30

11 a.m. Memorial Day services by the VFW and American Legion will be at the Craig Cemetery.

11 a.m. The Grand Olde West Days Street Festival begins downtown. Throughout the day, there will be vendors, music and performances by character actors.

Noon The Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Brown’s Amusements Carnival will be open until midnight at the Moffat County Fairgrounds.

Wednesday, June 1

7 p.m. Bingo is held at the VFW, 419 E. Victory Way, and is open to the public. Call 824-7145.
