10 a.m. The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association is offering immunizations every Monday and Friday. New clients should bring in their records 24 to 48 hours before their appointment dates. Children younger than 18 must be accompanied by their parents or present a signed permission slip from a parent. Medicaid recipients should bring their cards. Call the VNA at 824-8233.

5:30 p.m. The Boys & Girls Club of Craig will have its grand opening for the public. There will be a burrito dinner, tours of the building, Jump-O-Lene for the children, drawings for some great prizes and music by the Craig Middle School band. Tickets for the burrito dinner are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger if purchased in advance. Tickets at the door are $7 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger. Tickets may be purchased at KS Kreations, New Images, Taco Bell and the Boys & Girls Club. Guests may park at the BLM and Standard Plumbing and take a free shuttle bus to the BGCC building.

7 a.m. The 19th annual “Where the Hell is Maybell?” bike ride departs from Northwest Storage, 4295 U.S. Highway 40. Another group departs at 7:30 a.m. from Western Knolls subdivision. The race is free. There will be a breakfast served in Maybell for riders, with a cost of $5 per person. Call 826-2029.

10 a.m. Join local bird enthusiast Nancy Merrill for a guided bird walk at the Yampa River Preserve on Carpenter Ranch just east of Hayden. Enjoy the peaceful morning scenery and learn about the avian residents of the Carpenter Ranch.

10 a.m. Hands-On Quilters will meet at the Craig Fire Station. There will be a demonstration on chenille strip quilts. Call Cheryl at 824-2567.

11 a.m. The Craig Daily Press’ annual Hometown Heroes picnic will be held at City Park next to the VFW. The picnic is free of charge, and hamburgers, salads and beverages will be provided. The public is encouraged to bring a dessert to share. This community picnic is a celebration of the men and women who are serving in the armed forces or have lost their lives serving our country and for the veterans who have made so many American freedoms possible.
