7 p.m. Heartbeat, a suicide survivor group, meets the fourth Wednesday of the month at Serendipity Coffee House, 576 Yampa Ave.

7 p.m. The Holiday Inn of Craig offers free Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournaments every Sunday and Wednesday. One tournament starts at 7 p.m., and the second one starts at 9:30 p.m. Call 824-4000.

7 p.m. The Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees meets in the Platinum Conference Room.

8:30 p.m. Grand Futures Prevention Coalition and the city of Craig will host their annual Splash Party for seventh- and eighth-graders until 10:30 p.m. at the city of Craig pool. The event includes prizes, pizza and music. Admission is $5 a person.

Thursday, July 28

7 p.m. The Downtown Business Association will hold an auction at the Alice Pleasant downtown park. The auction is a fund-raiser to help residents purchase school supplies. Call 824-2151 to make a donation.

7 p.m. The Boys & Girls Club of Craig is hosting College 101. The event will feature current college students providing an open and honest discussion about what it is like to go to college. The event is designed for students who recently graduated or who are entering their senior year of high school.

10 a.m. Derek Wagner, U.S. Sen. Wayne Allard’s Western Colorado area director, will conduct office hours until 11 a.m. in the Craig City Council Chambers in City Hall. Call (970) 245-9553.

6 p.m. The Elks will have a spaghetti dinner for members and their guests. RSVP to 824-3557 or 824-2251.

10 a.m. Hands-On Quilters will meet at the Craig Fire/Rescue station. Anyone interested is welcome to attend. Call Cheryl at 824-2567.

Tuesday, Aug. 2

10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Extra help for the new Medicare prescription drug plan will be available at the Independent Life Center. Call 826-0833.

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Stephen Potter of the Social Security Administration will be at Independent Life Center to teach service providers about Medicare Part D. This is the drug benefit that will start next January. Anyone who helps Medicare recipients is welcome. Call 826-0833.

5 p.m. The Craig Police Department will participate in National Night Out with activities for children at the Boys & Girls Club of Craig. Activities include free balloons, free child ID kits, free bike registration, free gun safety locks and information about other police community programs.

6:30 p.m. A public meeting will be held explaining the Elkhead reservoir Expansion Project at the Holiday Inn, 300 S. Colorado Highway 13. Call (970) 945-8522.

5 p.m. Lt. Gen. (ret.) Jay Garner, the first director of the Office of Reconstruction and Humanitarian Assistance in Iraq in 2003, will speak about U.S. policy in Iraq as part of the free Seminars at Steamboat series at Centennial Hall in Steamboat.

9 a.m. Moffat County Sheriff’s Office Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament will be held at Yampa Valley Golf Course. Entry forms are available at the Sheriff’s Office.

9 a.m. Moffat County Fair 4-H and FFA Horse Show will be at the Moffat County Fairgrounds.

8 a.m. Moffat County Fair 4-H Dog Show will be in the grass area at the Moffat County Fairgrounds.

9 a.m. Moffat County Fair Judging of 4-H projects will be at the Moffat County Fairgrounds.

6 p.m. Moffat County Fair 4-H Celebration will be at the Moffat County Fairgrounds.

7:30 p.m. Neighborhood Watch, a subcommittee of Community Overcoming Methamphetamine Abuse, meets in The Memorial Hospital cafeteria.

8 a.m. Moffat County Fair Equipment Rodeo will be at the Moffat County Fairgrounds.
