9:30 a.m. Colorado State Parks and the Northwest Colorado Snowmobile Club of Craig sponsor the annual avalanche safety training day at Freeman Trailhead, north of Craig. Visitors should bring avalanche equipment — beacons, probes and shovels — and their snowmobiles. The event is open to the public. Call Ralph Stewart at 824-5353 or 824-4198.

Fall has officially arrived, but before I can get into the season I’m looking back, more specifically to two columns I wrote back in June and July. These two columns focused on the haying season…
