Today is the deadline to reserve a seat for a free “tea party” for children ages 6 to 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Boys and Girls Club. There will be an etiquette lesson and dance, and Santa Claus will also be visiting. Call 826-0411 to make reservations.

8:30 a.m. Mothers of Preschoolers meets at Calvary Baptist Church, 1050 Yampa Ave., until 11. The cost of $6 includes breakfast, crafts and speakers. Children are welcome. Call 824-0101.

9 a.m. U.S. Department of Agriculture commodities will be distributed by the Moffat County Department of Social Services, 595 Breeze St., until 11 a.m. (northeast alley entrance only). There will also be a distribution from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Dinosaur Social Services building. Call the Moffat County Department of Social Services at 824-8282.



3 p.m. Quest Bible-based activities program for children grades kindergarten through fourth will meet at the First Congregational Church, 630 Green St., until 4:45 p.m. through April 30. Stories, activities and snacks are provided. Call 824-3039.

6:30 p.m. Awana groups for ages 3 through sixth grade meet at the First Baptist Church, 1150 W. Ninth St. Call Pastor Brian Haynes at 824-5926.



7 p.m. The Ladies VFW Auxiliary holds bingo at the VFW Restaurant, 419 E. Victory Way. Proceeds benefit the monthly senior dinner held by the VFW. Call 824-7145.
Thursday, Dec. 16
10 a.m. Children’s story hour will be held at the Moffat County Library, 570 Green St. Another story hour will be held at 11 a.m. Children can make holiday tree hats after story time. RSVP by calling 824-5116.

6:30 p.m. The Craig Rural Fire Protection District will hold a public meeting at the fire station, 419 Yampa Ave., for all residents interested in the funding of the fire department during the next 10 to 20 years. Call 824-5914.

7 p.m. The Cancer Support Group meets in the Visiting Nurse Association conference room, 745 Russell St., until 8 p.m. Call 824-7641.
Friday, Dec. 17
Friday is the deadline for entries to the Holiday Tour of Lights sponsored by the Yampa Valley Electric Association and Craig Daily Press. People can enter their own homes or homes of neighbors. Judging will be Saturday and Sunday, and cash prizes will be awarded. Call 824-7031.

9:30 a.m. A community playgroup for parents with young children is scheduled at the Early Childhood Education Center, 775 Yampa Ave. Call 824-0371.

6:30 p.m. The Hayden Senior Holiday “Tour of Lights” is Friday. Those interested should meet in the Town Hall parking lot no later than 6:30 p.m. To register, call Lindsay at 276-3741, ext. 16.
Saturday, Dec. 18
Judging begins for the Holiday Tour of Lights. Cash awards will be presented to first through third place and honorable mention. Call 824-7031.

10 a.m. The VFW Christmas Party for kids ages 1 to 12 will be at the Elks Lodge (downstairs), 43 W. Victory Way, until noon. Santa will be there to have fun with the kids. “Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron” will be shown at the West Theater at 1 p.m. Call Dora, 824-2251.

11 a.m. Community Coat Drive distribution is at Columbine Apartments, 655 Wickes Ave., until 3 p.m. Anyone who needs a coat may come. One coat a person a year. Parents may pick up coats for children. This is the final distribution this year. The drive is sponsored by Love In the name of Christ of the Yampa Valley. Anyone who needs a coat after Saturday can call the Love INC Resource Center at 826-4400.

1 p.m. SHARE Craig Distribution is at St. Michael’s Church, 678 School St., until 2 p.m. Call Karen at 824-7939 or Laura at 824-7916.

1 p.m. The Elks will sponsor the movie “Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron” for children at the West Theater, 29 E. Victory Way. Call 824-2251.

2 p.m. A caregiver support group will meet at Sandrock Ridge Care & Rehab. A representative of the nursing home will give a presentation on the services the facility is providing. For more information, call Regina Grinolds at 824-3895.

U.S. Highway 40, until 8 p.m. The party is sponsored by the Boys and Girls Club and the Memorial Hospital, and will include an etiquette lesson, dance and visit from Santa Claus. 6:30 p.m. First Christian Church presents its first outdoor nativity. Dress warm, bring a flashlight and be ready to sing. A cookie fellowship and hot drinks will be afterward. Call 824-6024.
