6 a.m. The Substance Abuse Prevention Program is hosting a pancake breakfast fund-raiser until 11 a.m. at Craig’s McDonald’s. Tickets are $3 each and can be purchased from Moffat County School District students who are in third through sixth grades or from the Craig Police Department. Tickets are also available at the door. Proceeds from the event benefit scholarships, after school programs and DARE. For more information, call the Police Department at 826-2360.

8 a.m. The Elks hold their National Hoop Shoot for ages 8 to 13 at the Craig Middle School west campus. Sign-in starts at 8 a.m., but children can be registered by calling Dora at 824-2251. Children must bring copies of their birth certificates that show they are between 8 and 13 years old as of April 1, 2005. The shoot starts at 9 a.m. Call Jodi or Dora at 824-2251.



9 a.m. The Winter Arts and Crafts Show is at Centennial Mall until 5 p.m. Crafts and other items from senior citizens and nonprofit groups will be for sale. Call 824-7011 for booth availability.

9 a.m. The Friends of the Library group is having a used book sale today at Centennial Mall (inside the old Payless Shoesource) until 5 p.m. Books will be available for 50 cents a pound.



Noon The Craig Rotary Club is sponsoring a Holiday Home Tour until 4 p.m. Participants can purchase a $5 program that describes the homes at the first house they visit. Proceeds will benefit Rotary Club scholarships and other programs. Homes featured this year are 1005 Pershing St., 107 Moffat County Road 22, 5801 Highway 394 and 866 Villa View Dr.

1 p.m. The ladies of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and Lutheran Church of Grace are presenting a Christmas Tea in the Victorian-themed tea room at Lutheran Church of Grace, 657 Green St. Tickets are $5. Call Susie Aiken at 824-9633.

1:30 p.m. The fourth annual Hayden Senior Holiday “Friendship” Tea, sponsored by The Haven and the Hayden Recreation Board, is at The Haven, 300 S. Shelton Lane. Entertainment will be provided on the harp and piano by Andrea Erickson. Attendants should have signed up no later than Wednesday by calling Lindsay at 276-3741, ext. 16.

2 p.m. Community Coat Distribution is at Ridgeview West Apartments, 615 Riford Road, Apt. 2-E, until 5 p.m. Hot chocolate and cookies will be available to all. Anyone who needs a coat may come. One coat a person a year. Parents may pick up coats for children. The drive is sponsored by Love In the Name of Christ of the Yampa Valley. Call 826-4400.

5 p.m. The Brown’s Hole Homemakers’ Club is having a Christmas party at Lodore Hall in Browns Park. Festivities will include a gift exchange (less than $5) and a potluck dinner. Attendants bringing children should bring a small gift for Santa Claus to hand out. Call Dora at 824-2251.

9 a.m. The Craig Snowmobile Club is having a Christmas ride and party today. The ride starts at 9 a.m. Participants will depart from the Craig Middle School north parking lot. The potluck dinner is at 6 p.m. at Susan and Ron Spencer’s home. Call Ron Spencer at 824-3745.

1:30 p.m. Bingo will be held at the VFW, 419 E. Victory Way. Call 824-7145.

Tuesday, Dec. 14

9 a.m. U.S. Department of .Agriculture Commodities will be distributed at the Maybell Community Center until 9:30 a.m. Distributions in Craig and Dinosaur are Wednesday. Call the Moffat County Department of Social Services at 824-8282.

Noon Friends of the Library group meets at the Craig branch of the Moffat County Library, 570 Green St. Call 824-5116.

6 p.m. New member and parent orientation will be held at the Boys and Girls Club, 1324 U.S. Highway 40. New members, parents and community members are encouraged to attend. Call 826-0411.

7 p.m. The Craig Community Neighborhood watch, part of the Communities Overcoming Meth Abuse task force, will meet at The Memorial Hospital, 785 Russell St., in the cafeteria. This is the last of four consecutive Tuesday meetings to jump-start the community watch. Members of the community are welcomed to attend.

7 p.m. Moffat County High School presents a holiday concert in the auditorium.

Wednesday, Dec. 15

Wednesday is the deadline to reserve a seat for a free “tea party” at the Boys and Girls Club for children ages 6 to 12 on Saturday, Dec. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be an etiquette lesson and dance, and Santa Claus will visit. Call 826-0411 to make reservations.

8:30 a.m. Mothers of Preschoolers meets at Calvary Baptist Church, 1050 Yampa Ave., until 11. The cost of $6 includes breakfast, crafts and speakers. Children are welcome. Call 824-0101.

Craig council continues sidewalk talk

Craig’s city council continued its ongoing discussion Tuesday about the city’s walkability, prompting city leaders to look into potential funding solutions and plans.
