3:45 p.m. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4265 in Craig plans to host a public reception to welcome home Staff Sgt. Kathy Weiher, with the U.S. Army, from duty in Iraq. 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. First Congregational Church, 630 Green St., hosts its first “Junk in the Trunk” community yard sale in the south parking lot. The cost for sellers is $10 for two parking spaces and a table, if needed. Call pastor Bob Woods at 824-6836 between 9 a.m. and noon.

11 a.m. The Craig Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual Mud Splash mud volleyball tournament at Loudy-Simpson Park, west of the soccer fields. Call 824-5689.

1 p.m. A mini billiards tournament and sign-up social takes place at The Popular Bar, 24 West Victory Way. The cost is $5. Call Steve or Jolene Walls at 824-2214 or 620-0056.

6 p.m. to midnight. The 70th annual Craig Fire/Rescue Firefighter’s Ball/Luau takes place at the OP Bar and Grill, 534 E. Victory Way. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased from any firefighter or by calling Ashley at the fire station at 824-5914. Proceeds benefit the Craig Fire/Rescue High School Scholarship Fund.
