Daniel L. Weber: I’m sorry for illegally killing mountain lion

To the editor:

To the residents of Northwest Colorado:

In December of 2000, I participated in the illegal killing of a mountain lion in Northwest Colorado. I would like to apologize for my participation in the killing of this animal. This lion was killed by a paying hunter who did not have a valid license at the time of the kill. This lion was killed with total disregard for the laws of the state of Colorado and was a violation of the trust of the residents of the state of Colorado, as I was a registered outfitter at this time. It is important that hunters and outfitters obey the laws of Colorado, so that the efforts of the Colorado Division of Wildlife with regard to the protection of each species be enhanced, ensuring that future hunters will be able to enjoy hunting experiences also.
