Dale Potter: eporters are not commentators

In Thursday’s edition, Tim Makinson wrote to criticize Michelle Perry’s article about Bob Frey’s presentation at Yampa Valley Baptist Church of creation science as superior to evolution.

He charged Frey with “lying for Jesus” and Michelle Perry with gullibility.

I hope Frey will send a response to the charges brought by Makinson.

I want to respond to the charges against Perry. She accurately reported what she heard at the meeting without commenting about whether she agreed or disagreed with the facts of the presentation. This is what reporters are supposed to do; they are not commentators.

Apparently, Makinson thinks reporting should be bent to conform to his personal views. I am glad that your reporter was more honest than that.
