Daily Press honored for excellence

The Craig Daily Press received two national writing awards from the Inland Press Association on Monday during the association’s annual awards presentation in Chicago.

In Inland’s Local News Writing Competition, Daily Press senior staff writer Christina M. Currie took second place in investigative reporting for her July 8 story on The Memorial Hospital’s confidential negotiations to acquire a magnetic resonance imaging machine and clinical office space. The Inland Press Association includes more than 870 newspapers from all 50 states, Canada and Bermuda.

The Daily Press also won three first-place awards in the 2004 WorldWest Newspaper Contest.
