Craig woman rear-ends street sweeper

A Craig woman and her 10-year-old daughter sustained minor injuries after the car they were in rear-ended a Colorado Department of Transportation street sweeper Tuesday on U.S. Highway 40 just west of Hayden.

Colorado State Patrol Sgt. Scott Elliott said the driver, Dawn Bivens, 35, said she was driving about 45 miles per hour when she hit the street sweeper, which was cleaning the shoulder of the highway.

The driver of the street sweeper was not injured.

West Routt Fire Protection District firefighters took Bivens and her daughter to Yampa Valley Medical Center with minor injuries.

Bivens was given a ticket for careless driving causing bodily injury.
