Daily Press football contest underway
As the NFL’s regular season begins, the Craig Daily Press will feature an online forum for football fans to predict weekly results and win prizes by doing so.
Participants can register at CraigDailyPress.com/football through the UPICKEM system and can update their selections throughout the season, comparing their outcomes to local VIPs, including Mark Samuelson, of Samuelson’s True Value Hardware; Shannon Moore, of Clarion Inn & Suites; Kevin Willbanks, of Craig Powersports; and Daily Press sports reporter Andy Bockelman.
Those with the most accurate picks can win prizes at both the local and national levels, with UPICKEM’s ultimate prize package a trip for two to Hawaii.

Pistol certification course available
As part of Colorado Northwestern Community College’s community education courses, a concealed carry NRA basic pistol certification course will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 12 at Bears Ears Sportsman Club, north of Craig on Moffat County Road 7.

Youth antelope hunt contest starts
Participants must answer the following question in 125 to 500 words: “Why do I want to hunt?”
An entry form will be available in the Friday edition of the Craig Daily Press, and participants must include name, Hunter Safety Card number, date of birth, phone number, signature and guardian waiver.

Billiards league getting organized for fall
BCA Pool League will begin its seventh season in the following week at The Popular Bar, 24 W. Victory Way, and teams are already forming and seeking players.
The 9-Ball league takes place at 5 p.m. Sundays starting this week, consisting of three-person teams with a total of 5 players allowed on teams. The 8-Ball games are at 6 p.m. Mondays, with five-person teams and a total of eight players allowed on teams.
Players must be 21 and over and can qualify for a Las Vegas trip during both nights.
Yearly fees are $20 to play in both leagues and in all other events. Nightly fees are $5 for 9-Ball and $6 for 8-Ball, plus the cost of coins.

Youth basketball prepping for season
Registration is open for Craig Parks & Recreation’s youth basketball program for boys and girls in grades three through six.
Practices will begin the week of Oct. 19. The fee is $40, and the deadline is Wednesday to sign up at Craig City Hall, 300 W. Fourth St.
