The Clarion Inn & Suites Jets square off against the Boy-Ko Supply Broncos Wednesday at Woodbury Sports Complex during the third- and fourth-grade Doak Walker tackle football league. The Craig Parks & Recreation athletic program's season will run though the week of Oct. 12, when the third- and fourth-grade and fifth- and sixth-grade teams will play their championship games.

Enjoy fall foliage with Friends of Moffat County Education running event

Friends of Moffat County Education will host the final entry in its 2015 running series with Leaf Cruncher 5K and One-Mile Family Fun Run Saturday at Loudy-Simpson Park.

The 5K gets off and running at 8 a.m., and the cost is $20 for those over 18 and free to kids, t-shirts available for all.

Proceeds go to FMCE’s work with local schools, and prizes will be available for the top runners of different ages.

Concealed carry certification classes available

The $65 class includes about six hours of instruction and one to two hours of shooting.

Students need their firearm, 50 rounds of ammunition, eye protection, earplugs, lunch and water.

Zombie 5K takes place week before Halloween

Grand Futures Prevention Coalition and Moffat County Teen Council will host the inaugural Zombie 5K Walk/Run at 3 p.m. Oct. 24 at Loudy-Simpson Park’s Nature Trails.

Organizers will have zombies in costume ready to chase participants and all who run are encouraged to dress for the occasion. Prizes will be available for the best zombie attire and makeup.

Early registration is available through Oct. 18 and is $45 for teams of five of any age, $15 for a single adult or $7 for an individual youth. People can only sign up solo after the early deadline, $20 for an adult, $10 for youths. The day of the event will feature registration starting at 1 p.m.
