Craig Sports Briefs for Nov. 5, 2014: Bad Dogs Wrestling hosting first practice Thursday

The Bad Dogs Wrestling program will offer the first of its practice sessions from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the wrestling room at Moffat County High School, 900 Finley Lane.

Bad Dogs is available for kids ages 4 to 14, with practices each Tuesday and Thursday. The first practice will also include a gear swap. Those who have yet to register must pay the $15 for a USA Wrestling card for use in tournaments and sign liability waivers before their child can participate.

Fall sports banquet takes place Thursday

The athletes of Moffat County High School’s fall sports programs will be honored during an awards banquet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the MCHS gym. All athletes are expected to attend, and appropriate dress is required.

The potluck event will feature food and beverages provided by athletes and their families. The following teams are expected to bring the corresponding dishes, with each needing to be large enough for one dozen to two dozen people:

Football — Entrees

Volleyball — Desserts

Cross country — Side dishes

Boys golf — Ranch rolls

Cheerleaders and boys soccer, freshmen and sophomores — Salads

Rodeo and boys soccer, juniors and seniors — Drinks

Winter sports meeting planned for parents of Moffat County athletes

Moffat County High School will host a parents meeting for those involved in the school’s winter sports at 6 p.m. Nov. 10 in the MCHS library.

Winter sports include boys and girls basketball, wrestling and girls swimming.

Craig Parks and Rec offering lifeguard classes

Registration is now open for Craig Parks and Recreation’s lifeguard certification course. The cost is $125, and the class is open to participants over the age of 15. Geared toward students, sessions will take place during Winter Break.

Adults are also welcome.

The deadline to register is Dec. 9, which is also when the precourse swim test will take place, at 7 p.m. at the Moffat County High School pool.

Water aerobics classes available

Water aerobics exercise classes began in October and will run through Dec. 18 at the Moffat County High School pool.

Classes take place from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, promoting cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, body toning and water fun. Classes cost $40 overall or $4 per individual session.

Participants must be at least 15 years old.

Parks and rec offers basketball for younger ages

Registration is now open for boys and girls in kindergarten through second-grade to play Craig Parks and Recreation basketball.

The cost is $40, and the season will take place from February to April. The deadline to sign up is Jan. 7, and those who register late will be placed on a waiting list with no guarantee of placement.
