Craig Sports Briefs for Nov. 20, 2013: Craig BCA through nine weeks of play

The Craig Billiards Congress of America pool league has released its standings, updated through nine weeks of play.

Team Git R Done has maintained its lead in the league, currently with 1485 points. In second place, One Eyed Bandits broke their tie with Odd Ballz, and hold a 1471 to 1468 lead for runner-up position.

The league’s bottom half remains the same, with No Ex-Cue-Ses at 1424 in fourth place. Uh-Oh and Out 4 Blood still are 5th and 6th, respectively, but Uh-Oh has closed in on Ex-Cue-Ses and is at 1420 points, primed to move up.

BCA’s Sunday league was canceled at the fall start, but the league is planning on restarting at 5 p.m. Dec. 8 with enough interest.

On Dec. 7, BCA will have a Bring a Friend Tournament, during which current members can bring non-members to play.

Open gym basketball at CMS underway

Craig Parks and Recreation hosts open gym basketball throughout the winter at Craig Middle School.

Pick-up games and shoot arounds are from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. They run through Feb. 13. Anyone 15 years and older is welcome to attend. Those interested can purchase a punch pass, or can pay a gym fee of $2.50 to supervisors each night they attend.

Lifeguard training coming up over winter break

Teens or adults looking to be lifeguards during the summer at the pool, or at water events during the school year, can get certified this winter break through Craig Parks and Recreation.

Those interested must be at least 15 years old, and must pass a swim test before the course. The swim test will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Dec. 10, and the lifeguard classes will begin during the school district’s winter break.

Registration will close Dec. 10, once the swim test date passes. The fee is $125. For more information, contact Parks and Rec at 970-826-2017.

Winter water aerobics offered at the high school

Registration for water aerobics during the winter now is open through Craig Parks and Recreation.

Water aerobics offer a low-resistance method of exercise and can improve fitness and flexibility. The classes, held at Moffat County High School are from 7 to 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.

Classes run through Jan. 15 and will not occur the week of Thanksgiving or winter break. To sign up for the entire session costs $45, or those interested can attend individual classes for $4. For more information, contact Craig Parks and Recreation at 970-826-2017.
