Craig Sports Briefs for May 23, 2015: Moffat County High School sports offers physicals
The Moffat County High School athletics department will be getting ahead of the game by offering early physical examinations this year for incoming and returning athletes from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at The Memorial Hospital Clinic, 785 Russell St.
Both MCHS students and those planning to play sports through Craig Middle School can pick up registration at the MCHS first floor athletic office at 900 Finley Lane.
This session will be in lieu of the physicals hosted in July, which will not take place this year.

Basketball camp open to Craig, Moffat County kids
The Moffat County High School boys and girls varsity basketball teams will host the Progressive Basketball Academy’s “Fun with Fundamentals” Basketball Day Camp May 31 and June 1 at the MCHS gym, 900 Finley Lane.
The intensive sessions run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day for players who will be entering second- through ninth-grade in the fall. The camp offers coaching in basic skills of the game, ranging from shooting and passing to footwork and defense to concepts like setting goals, developing confidence and teamwork.
Among Progressive’s staff is Camp Director Mike Moskowitz, who has served as head coach for multiple college hoops teams, most recently Western State Colorado University.
The camp costs $125 for players and includes a basketball, shirt, water bottle and written analysis of individual skills. Kids must provide their own lunch.
Advance online registration is preferred, but parents can also sign up their children the day of the camp, as well.

Registration open for The Memorial Hospital Foundation golf tourney
The 15th annual Memorial Hospital Foundation Golf Tournament will be held June 12 at Yampa Valley Golf Course.
Check-in time is 11 a.m. with a shotgun start at noon for the event, a four-man team scramble format benefiting TMH Foundation. Teams may buy mulligans, and the mulligan tickets will be used in a drawing for prizes.
Registration for the tournament costs $60 per person or $240 per team. The price includes 18 holes of golf, cart, appetizers and a chance to win cash prizes.
Carts are guaranteed for the first 25 teams.
Team prizes include $75 in Spree Bucks per person for first place winners gross and net, $50 in Spree Bucks for second and $25 for third. Contests include straightest drive and closest to the pin.
