MCHS players and coaches will work with younger athletes on the tenets of the sport with multiple stations during the clinic, which takes place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 21 at Woodbury Sports Complex.

The cost is $25 and includes lunch and a t-shirt. Registration forms are available at Parks & Rec, 300 W. Fourth St., and are due by this Wednesday.

Trail Riders to host May 14 Fun Day in Sand Wash Basin

Yampa Valley OHV Trail Riders will host the third annual Spring Fever Fun Day this Saturday at Sand Wash Basin.

Those attending can meet at the Sand Wash corrals with camping available throughout that Friday and Saturday. To get to the corrals, drive west on US Highway 40 turn onto Colorado Highway 40 and then onto Moffat County Road 67.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. with an educational tour starting at 9:15 a.m.

People should provide their own lunch.

A free raffle will be included, and the admission for the day is a suggested donation of $5.

Register now for Maybell bike ride

The annual “Where the Hell’s Maybell?” bicycle ride sponsored by Craig Parks & Recreation will take place this Saturday. Now in its 30th year, the 30-mile journey through Northwest Colorado is available to riders at no cost.

Riders can begin either at Northwest Storage on the west end of Craig starting at 7 a.m. or Western Knolls at 7:30 a.m. The first five miles of the excursion are the most difficult and include considerable inclines along US Highway 40.

Upon reaching Maybell, cyclists can join in a breakfast in the town park, $6 for all-you-can-eat pancakes, bacon, eggs, coffee and juice, not guaranteed for those arriving after 10:15 a.m. Riders have the option of biking back to Craig or using a shuttle for $5 per person.

Riders under 14 are required to ride with an adult, while ages 15 to 17 need to have a consent form signed by a parent or guardian.

Dude Dent ceremony takes place May 26

The awards ceremony for the Lewis “Dude” Dent Memorial Award and Outstanding Female Athlete will take place May 26 at the Clarion Inn & Suites, 300 S. Colorado Highway 13.

The awards honor the top male and female student-athletes at Moffat County High School who have demonstrated excellence in sports, academic achievements and strong character throughout their high school career.

This year’s nominees for Dude Dent are Shandon Hadley, Stelios Peroulis and Dusty Taylor. Up for Outstanding Female Athlete are Allie Dilldine, Morgan Lawton and Kayla Pinnt.

Additional awards for student-athletes will also be distributed during the ceremony.

Tickets to the banquet are $15 per person.

Basketball camp comes to Craig in late May

Progressive Basketball Academy will host a camp for athletes entering grades two through nine for the 2016-17 school year.

Sessions run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 31 to June 2 at Moffat County High School, 900 Finley Lane.

Experienced coaches will work on facets of the game with players ranging from dribbling, shooting, passing and rebounding to teamwork, competitiveness and listening skills.

Registration is $125 per player, with discounts available for families with multiple children. Players will receive a t-shirt and wristband and need to bring with them a ball and a water bottle.
