Craig Sports Briefs for June 26, 2015: Matt Hamilton plays in All-State football game
Recent Moffat County High School graduate Matt Hamilton represented the Bulldogs at the Colorado High School Coaches Association’s 59th All-State Games at Adams State University in Alamosa.
Football player Hamilton was part of the South roster, quarterbacking half the game and serving as punter for the entirety in a June 12 exhibition match that the North team won, 16-7, at Rex Stadium.
Hamilton was chosen as Player of the Year and Quarterback of the Year for the 2A Western Slope North League during the 2014 season and was also selected as the top male sportsman as the recipient of the Lewis “Dude” Dent Memorial Award.
According to the organization’s website, in order to be selected for All-State activities, senior athletes are nominated by their leagues via a CHSCA league representative in team sports and by CHSCA member coaches in individual sports. The nominations are then voted on by CHSCA member coaches to select the teams.
