The 16th annual golf tournament for The Memorial Hospital Foundation featured 23 teams Friday at Yampa Valley Golf CourseYampa Valley Golf Course..
Winning first place overall was the foursome of Heather Cannon, Rob Cannon, Edward Cannon and Jeff Boss, while Orvie Zimmerman, John Martinez, David Mucha and Chris Mucha had the best net total.
A contest for the shot closest to the pin was won by Moe Ortega and Ashley Kawcak, while the straightest drives of the day were Robert Cannon and Amy Knights.

Registration starts at 10 a.m., with the first half of the tourney for middle-schoolers from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. High school students will play from 2 to 4 p.m.
The cost of the event is free but is separate from Whittle the Wood.

Wake the Whittler 5K runs Saturday

Wake the Whittler, the first in a series of summer running events hosted by Friends of Moffat County Education, starts registration at 7:15 a.m., with the 5K kicking off at 8 a.m. and the Fun Run following.
All runners will receive a t-shirt and the top male and female runners in each age group will take home prizes. The cost is $20 for adults, free to ages 17 and younger.
Funds benefit FMCE’s work with local schools. Registration can be dropped off at Eastside Liquor or mailed to PO Box 985, Craig, CO 81626.

Bowling fundraiser to benefit child advocates group

The evening will include door prizes, bake sale and silent auction, as well as multiple rounds on the lanes.
Registration comes in several packages. The Spare is $100 for a team of five and is available to students, nonprofit groups or families and friends. The Strike is a corporate-sponsored team of five for $500.
The Deuce is available for $200 for companies wishing to display a banner at the event, while the Turkey is a corporate team of five, banner and additional sponsorship benefits for $750.
Prices include shoe rentals and three games of bowling.
Funds will go toward CASA’s work with abused and neglected children in Moffat, Routt and Grand counties.
