Craig Sports Briefs for July 31, 2015: Saturday’s Elevate Education 5K to benefit FMCE
As part of Moffat County Balloon Festival, Friends of Moffat County Education will host the Elevate Education 5K and One-Mile Fun Run Saturday morning at Loudy-Simpson Park, 600 S. Ranney St.
Registration starts at 6:30 a.m. during the hot air balloon launch, with the races beginning at 7 a.m. The cost is $20 for ages 18 and older, kids run for free.
Everyone receives a t-shirt, and prizes will go to the top individuals in different age brackets with a traveling trophy going to the group or business with the most racers.

Get moving with Trapper Fitness 5K at Moffat County Fair
Registration begins at 7 a.m. in the Pavilion parking lot, and people can also register in advance at from noon to 7 p.m. weekdays at Trapper Fitness Center, 261 Commerce St.
The cost to run is $15, which includes a t-shirt and ticket for door prizes. Registration is due at sign-up.

Safari Club selling tickets for drawing
During the Moffat County Fair, Safari Club International Yampa Valley Chapter will be selling tickets for a drawing as part of the group’s annual fundraiser.
Representatives will be available throughout the day Aug. 8 at the Moffat County Fairgrounds, selling entries for a drawing to win a Teton four-burner gas grill.
Singles are $5 apiece, while a book of five is $20.
Tickets can also be purchased from Mountain Man Taxidermy, Rummel Chiropractic, or from Ken Fleming or Karl Huntsman.

Young Life golf tourney coming Aug. 8
The Bear River Young Life 2015 Charity Golf Tournament tees off Aug. 8 at Yampa Valley Golf Course.
The four-person scramble starts at 8:30 a.m. and offers a $1,700 payout, as well as a “special twist” on the traditional tournament with many prizes and special features.
The youth ministry organization will be seeking sponsors — who can pay per hole or otherwise — through Aug. 3.
The cost to play is $60 per person for greens fees, a cart and a catered lunch. Teams can also sign up — with a maximum of 30 — for $240.

Women’s golf fundraiser swings into action Aug. 12
The Rally for the Cause Ladies Tournament, benefiting Moffat County Cancer Society, takes place Aug. 12 at Yampa Valley Golf Course.
The four-person scramble starts at 1 p.m. and is open to women of all skill levels.
Entry is $40 for 18 holes and dinner. Golfers are asked to wear pink.

Billiards league getting organized for fall
BCA Pool League will begin its sixth season in September at The Popular Bar, 24 W. Victory Way, and teams are already forming and seeking players.
The 9-Ball league takes place at 5 p.m. Sundays starting Sept. 13, consisting of three-person teams with a total of 5 players allowed on teams. The 8-Ball games are at 6 p.m. Mondays, beginning Sept. 14, with five-person teams and a total of eight players allowed on teams.
Players can qualify for a Las Vegas trip during both nights. The city champions from the past season are competing at the nationals this week.
Yearly fees are $20 to play in both leagues and in all other events. Nightly fees are $5 for 9-Ball and $6 for 8-Ball, plus the cost of coins.
