Craig Sports Briefs for July 15, 2013: Next archery leagues beginning at InsideOut Sports
The spring archery league at InsideOut Sports, 561 Russel St., finished up recently and another is beginning soon.
Jason Wheeler and Shawn Polly came out on top in the most recent eight-week archery competition on the indoor lanes at InsideOut Sports. The summer league will begin at 7 p.m. July 18.
InsideOut owner Brad King said the archery leagues are for anyone interested, not just experts. The scores from each week are handicapped, so archers are never far behind one another.
There will also be fun shoots at InsideOut on Saturdays. For more information, call King at 629-9992.
Moffat County High School physicals at end of July at TMH clinic
Athletes who still need to get a physical in order to play sports in the coming school year can do so for cheap at The Memorial Hospital Clinic coming up.
TMH Clinic, 785 Russell St., will offer physicals from 5 to 7 p.m. July 30 for $15. All athletes must have a physical completed before they are allowed to practice. The physicals are available for high school and middle school students.
High school boys golf practice begins Aug. 5, and the rest of high school fall sports begin Aug. 12.
Moffat County boys golf to hold preseason meeting
With high school boys golf starting practice a week before all other fall sports due to weather concerns in the later part of the fall, MCHS is hoping to get a jumpstart on the season.
The team will hold a preseason meeting for anyone interested in playing golf at 7 p.m. July 29 at the high school to go over important information and hand out forms.
Practice begins the following Monday, Aug. 5, and in order to participate all athletes must have completed their physicals and have all parental consent forms signed and turned in.
As a result of the early start to the season, it is common for golfers to miss the first couple days of practice because they do not have the proper paperwork, said co-curricular athletic director Rick Schmitz.
Those forms and other information will be handed out at the preseason meeting.
MCHS having fall sports parents information day
Moffat County School District Athletic Director Rick Schmitz has scheduled a parent’s night for all high school fall sports.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Aug. 12 and will give parents a chance to meet the coaches of the fall sports teams — boys golf, boys and girls cross country, football, volleyball, boys soccer and cheerleading — as well as discuss other information pertinent to the upcoming sports season.
A similar meeting is being planned for middle school fall sports, but does not have a set date yet.
New school record, outdone expectations at state mark bright future for Moffat County track and field
With Saturday bringing with it a new team record, a competition that nearly didn’t happen, and a bet with some slippery stakes, never let it be said that Moffat County High School track and field athletes don’t make their season exciting right up until the very end.
