Craig Sports Briefs for Feb. 11, 2013: Moffat County wrestling defeats Basalt

In its third dual Friday night, which ended late, Moffat County High School’s wrestling team beat Basalt 42-32.

The Bulldogs finished off a 3-0 night by beating the Longhorns, but not with their best wrestling of the night. They led with wins against Cedaredge and Gunnison earlier.

While the Bulldogs scored more points, many of them came as a result of forfeits from the smaller Basalt team. Moffat County heads to the regional wrestling meet in Grand Valley this coming weekend.

First-aid courses from Parks and Rec

Craig Parks and Recreation is offering CPR and first aid classes.

The American Red Cross-sponsored classes are scheduled for March 12 and 13 from 6 to 10 p.m. at City Hall in Craig. Other lessons can be scheduled by an individual, group or business, and an instructor will be made available.

Class costs include a textbook. For more information, call 970-826-2017. The deadline to register is March 6.

Indoor soccer available at Boys and Girls Club

The Boys & Girls Club of Craig will play host to adult co-ed indoor soccer. The sport, also known as Futsal, will be open to anyone Sundays from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Boys & Girls Club gym. The program started Jan. 27 and will run through mid-March.

Indoor soccer is open to players of all experience levels, and while it is an adult program, it is open to players 14 and older. All entry fee proceeds will go to the Boys & Girls Club.

Water aerobics courses available at Moffat County High School

Craig residents looking to get a different style of exercise are in luck.

Water aerobics courses, which began Jan. 21 and run through March 27, offer a combination of exercise benefits, improving fitness and flexibility while also being easier on the joints than other forms of exercise.

Classes are from 7 to 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at Moffat County High School. The fee to drop-in for a class is $4, with the full cost for a session at $50.

While the current session is winding down its final few weeks, another session beginning the following week is open for registration.
