Craig Sports Briefs for Dec. 18, 2013: Craig BCA standings through 11 weeks

Team Git R Done has established itself as the one to beat in the Craig Billiards Congress of America (BCA) pool league this season.

Through 11 weeks of play, Git R Done has opened up a lead of nearly 60 points with a score of 1818 at the top of the standings.

One Eyed Bandits, Odd Ballz and No Ex-Cue-Ses are in a tight battle for second place. The Bandits currently hold the spot at 1763 points, but have a narrow advantage over Odd Ballz (1756) and Ex-Cue-Ses (1748).



Uh-Oh sits in fifth at 1722 points, while Out 4 Blood is in sixth place with 1671.

Upcoming skiing opportunities for Craig youth

Registration is open for Craig Parks and Recreation’s Trailbusters program.

The Trailbusters offers ski and snowboard lessons for children from Craig in first through sixth grade in January and February. Lessons begin Jan. 18 and finish Feb. 22, with transportation to Steamboat included.

Those interested must register by Jan. 10. The cost is $300, with participants purchasing lift tickets and rentals (if needed) for each Saturday they attend.

The Parks and Rec Ski Club is also accepting registrations now. The Ski Club is open to anyone and costs $10 to join. Members can get Saturday lift tickets for $57.

Junior basketball registration open in Craig

Basketball beginners can get into the sport though Craig Parks and Recreation’s junior youth basketball league.

Registration is open for boys and girls from kindergarten through second grade. Boys leagues will play Mondays and Wednesdays, while girls will be Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The deadline to register is Jan. 8, and the season runs from Feb. 10 through April 10.

Open gym basketball at CMS

Craig Parks and Recreation hosts open gym basketball over the winter at Craig Middle School.

Pick-up games and shoot-arounds are from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. They run through Feb. 13, 2014. Anyone 15 years and older is welcome to attend. Those interested can purchase a punch pass, or can pay a gym fee of $2.50 to supervisors each night they attend.
