Craig Sports Briefs for Dec. 17, 2014: Youth hockey brings in teams for tourney
Craig Youth Hockey Association’s Squirts team will host the ‘Tis the Season Tournament on Saturday and Sunday at the Loudy-Simpson Park Ice Arena, 600 S. Ranney St.
The five-team round robin format will include Oak Creek, Lafayette, Hyland Hills and Rock Springs, Wyoming.
The Cougars and each visiting team all will face off at least once, and the top two teams will compete in the Sunday championship round. Admission is free, and the rink will have concessions available. Organizers also will hold a puck toss fundraiser.

11:45 a.m. Hyland Hills vs. Rock Springs

8 a.m. Oak Creek vs. Rock Springs
9:15 a.m. Craig vs. Hyland Hills

11:45 a.m. Championship game
Safari Club to offer drawing
The Yampa Valley Chapter of Safari Club International will host a fundraiser drawing at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Clarion Inn & Suites, 300 S. Colorado Highway 13.
Proceeds will support regional shooting sports and the club’s work with disabled veterans. Prizes include a selection of beef, a freezer and a Yeti cooler.
Tickets are $5 apiece or $20 for five. Participants do not need to be present to win.

Water aerobics classes available
Water aerobics exercise classes will run through Thursday at the Moffat County High School pool.
Classes take place from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, promoting cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, body toning and water fun. Classes cost $40 overall or $4 per individual session.
A new session will begin Jan. 6, running through March 26. Participants must be at least 15 years old.

Parks and Rec offers basketball for younger ages
Registration is now open for boys and girls in kindergarten through second grade to play Craig Parks and Recreation basketball.
The cost is $40, and the season will take place from February to April. The deadline to sign up is Jan. 7, and those who register late will be placed on a waiting list with no guarantee of placement.
