Craig Sports Briefs for Dec. 15, 2014: Elks Lodge sponsors free-throw contest
The Craig Elks Lodge 1577 will play host to the National Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest on Dec. 20 at Sandrock Elementary School, 201 E. Ninth St.
Registration begins at 8 a.m., and the competition starts at 9 a.m. for boys and girls, who must be no younger than 8 and no older than 13 as of April 1, 2015.
Parents are reminded that there are no flash photos allowed while contestants are shooting. Afterward, a chili lunch and prizes will be available at the Elks Lodge, 43 W. Victory Way.

Safari Club to offer drawing
The Yampa Valley Chapter of Safari Club International will host a fundraiser drawing at 7 p.m. Dec. 20 at the Clarion Inn & Suites, 300 S. Colorado Highway 13.
Proceeds will support regional shooting sports and the club’s work with disabled veterans. Prizes include a selection of beef, a freezer and a Yeti cooler.
Tickets are $5 apiece or $20 for five. Participants do not need to be present to win.

Water aerobics classes available
Water aerobics exercise classes will run through Thursday at the Moffat County High School pool.
Classes take place from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, promoting cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, body toning and water fun. Classes cost $40 overall or $4 per individual session.
Participants must be at least 15 years old.

Parks and Rec offers basketball for younger ages
Registration is now open for boys and girls in kindergarten through second grade to play Craig Parks and Recreation basketball.
The cost is $40, and the season will take place from February to April. The deadline to sign up is Jan. 7, and those who register late will be placed on a waiting list with no guarantee of placement.
