Craig Sports Briefs for August 28, 2013: Adult coed volleyball signups open
The fall coed volleyball leagues are open for signups for the next week, with the season beginning soon after.
Craig Parks and Recreation’s competitive and semi-competitive volleyball leagues begin play Monday, Sept. 9. Registration ends Sept. 4, and will be on a first come, first served basis. Six players can take the court at the same time, but teams may play with as few as three at once.
The cost to join the league is $125 per team and $10 per team member. The competitive league will play on Monday nights and the semi-competitive teams will play on Tuesdays or Thursdays.

Snake River receives top-three ranking in preseason football
The Little Snake River Valley six-man football team was picked third in the Wyoming preseason football poll.
The Rattlers of Baggs, Wyo. are coming off a loss in the state championship game last season, after winning consecutive state titles in 2010 and 2011. But this year, they face the difficulty of missing 10 graduated seniors.
Snake River received 93 points in the voting, including two first-place votes. They trail Midwest (99 points) and defending state champ Dubois (162).
The Rattlers begin their season Sept. 6 vs. Saratoga in Baggs. They will also host Meeteetse Sept. 13 and Dubois Oct. 18 in key games throughout the season.
MCHS JV teams begin seasons this week
Moffat County’s varsity teams start their fall sports seasons this week, and the sports with JV and C teams will also begin their 2013 campaigns.
First the Moffat County football C team will travel to Eagle Valley High School Thursday for a 5 p.m. matchup against the Devils. It will be the first high school game for the team composed of mostly freshmen.
On Saturday the JV and C volleyball teams will attend a tournament hosted at Grand Valley High School in Parachute. Both teams will play multiple games, which will be determined based on wins and losses.
JV cross country will race at the same meet as the varsity teams, the Cheyenne Mountain Stampede in Colorado Springs.
Parks and Rec seeking football officials
The Craig Parks and Recreation youth football season is approaching quickly, and the league is looking for officials.

Pool league in Craig begins Sept. 15
The Craig Billiards Congress of America pool 8-ball league begins Sept. 15. League events take place at Popular Bar, 24 W. Victory Way.
