The tournament costs $240 per team fee for greens fees, catered lunch and cart fees. There is a $1,700 payout, as well as many fun twists throughout the course during the day. Also, a $42,000 prize is available from 360 Insurance for a hole-in-one on YVGC’s seventh hole in addition to many other prizes throughout the day.

Race for good cause with Saturday’s Elevate Education 5K
The Elevate Education 5K Run/Walk and One-Mile Fun Run hosted by Friends of Moffat County Education will take place at 7 a.m. Saturday at Loudy-Simpson Park, shortly after the balloon launch for Moffat County Balloon FestivalMoffat County Balloon Festival..
Registration begins at 6:30 a.m., and the price is $20 per runner, with kids under 18 free. Prizes go to the top runner of each age group. The proceeds will benefit FMCE’s work with local schools.
Free paddleboard racing takes part during Balloon Festival
The Battle of the Paddle will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. this Saturday at the Loudy- Simpson Park pond as part of Moffat County Balloon Festival.
Red Coyote Adventure will provide equipment including paddleboards, paddles and life vests as part of the event, which is an obstacle course on the water free for anyone to tackle whether alone or in competition with others.
Organizers will provide a cash prize for the fastest contestants as well as a drawing open to all who participate.

The day begins with a 9 a.m. shotgun start, and play is a four-person scramble format.
Foursomes can be entered, or organizers can place people with teams if necessary.
Entry is $40 and includes lunch, though players are responsible for green fees and cart rental.
Players are also encouraged to wear pink. Registration is due by noon Aug. 8, and sign-up is available on the bulletin board at YVGC.

Erin Smiddy has lived in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District nearly all her life. An unaffiliated voter who lives in Aspen, Smiddy said she voted for President Joe Biden and Democrat Diane Mitsch Bush, who ran against Republican Lauren Boebert, in the 2020 election.
