Craig Sports Briefs for Aug. 21, 2015: Safari Club selling tickets for drawing
Safari Club International Yampa Valley Chapter is selling tickets for a drawing as part of its efforts to support 4-H shooting sports, work with disabled veterans and other projects in the area.
The prize available is a Teton four-burner gas grill. Singles are $5 apiece, while a book of five is $20.
Tickets can be purchased from Mountain Man Taxidermy, Rummel Chiropractic or from Ken Fleming or Karl Huntsman. The drawing will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 4 at Mountain Man Taxidermy, and entrants need not be present to win.

Couples golf tourney tees off in September
Registration is open for the No Down, Low Down Couples Showdown Sept. 5 and 6 at Yampa Valley Golf Course.
The weekend event begins at 11 a.m. Sept. 5, and the fee of $190 per team includes two days of golf in a Chapman format, prizes, a Saturday barbecue and a Sunday breakfast.
Cart fees are $36 per day.

Bowling fundraiser rolling into place
The Humane Society of Moffat County will host its second annual bowling fundraiser at 6 p.m. Sept. 12 at Thunder Rolls Bowling Center, 990 Industrial Ave.
The cost to register is $25 per player or $100 per team, four bowlers to a lane, with a limit of 16 lanes, and spots will be given to those who sign up the earliest. The night features dinner, dessert and plentiful prizes.
Bank of Colorado will match the night’s proceeds up to $2,500. Organizers are also looking for additional sponsors.
The deadline to register is Sept. 4.

Billiards league getting organized for fall
BCA Pool League will begin its seventh season in September at The Popular Bar, 24 W. Victory Way, and teams are already forming and seeking players.
The 9-Ball league takes place at 5 p.m. Sundays starting Sept. 13, consisting of three-person teams with a total of 5 players allowed on teams. The 8-Ball games are at 6 p.m. Mondays, beginning Sept. 14, with five-person teams and a total of eight players allowed on teams.
Players must be 21 and over and can qualify for a Las Vegas trip during both nights.
Yearly fees are $20 to play in both leagues and in all other events. Nightly fees are $5 for 9-Ball and $6 for 8-Ball, plus the cost of coins.
