Craig Sports Briefs for Aug. 14, 2015: Cast, Blast and Twang starts Saturday at Wyman Museum

The Family Cast, Blast and Twang takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Wyman Living History Museum, sponsored by Colorado Parks & Wildlife, Northwest Colorado Outfitters Chapter, Safari Club International Yampa Valley Chapter and Brother’s Custom Processing.

The free event offers fishing, shooting and archery. All angling equipment is available free of charge, though participants can bring their own if they prefer. Participants 16 and older must have a current fishing license to participate in any fishing event.

Firearms and archery equipment will be provided, and participants are asked not to bring their own.

A free barbecue lunch will also be served.

Concealed carry certification class available Saturday

As part of Colorado Northwestern Community College’s community education courses, a concealed carry NRA basic pistol certification course will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Bears Ears Sportsman Club, north of Craig on Moffat County Road 7.

The $65 class includes about six hours of instruction and one to two hours of shooting.

Students need their firearm, 50 rounds of ammunition, eye protection, earplugs, lunch and water.

Billiards league getting organized for fall

BCA Pool League will begin its seventh season in September at The Popular Bar, 24 W. Victory Way, and teams are already forming and seeking players.

The 9-Ball league takes place at 5 p.m. Sundays starting Sept. 13, consisting of three-person teams with a total of 5 players allowed on teams. The 8-Ball games are at 6 p.m. Mondays, beginning Sept. 14, with five-person teams and a total of eight players allowed on teams.

Players must be 21 and over and can qualify for a Las Vegas trip during both nights.

Yearly fees are $20 to play in both leagues and in all other events. Nightly fees are $5 for 9-Ball and $6 for 8-Ball, plus the cost of coins.
