Craig Sports Briefs for April 16, 2016: Register now for Maybell bike ride

The 30th annual Craig Parks & Recreation "Where the Hell's Maybell?" bike ride takes place May 14. The trip is a free ride along US Highway 40 from Craig to Maybell, which is about 30 miles. A breakfast in Maybell's park is also available.

Riders can begin either at Northwest Storage on the west end of Craig starting at 7 a.m. or Western Knolls at 7:30 a.m. The first five miles of the excursion are the most difficult and include considerable inclines along US Highway 40.

Upon reaching Maybell, cyclists can join in a breakfast in the town park, $6 for all-you-can-eat pancakes, bacon, eggs, coffee and juice, not guaranteed for those arriving after 10:15 a.m. Riders have the option of biking back to Craig or using a shuttle for $5 per person.

Riders under 14 are required to ride with an adult, while ages 15 to 17 need to have a consent form signed by a parent or guardian.

Shirts for the event are $15 for youth short-sleeve and $18 for adult long-sleeve and should be ordered and paid for by April 20, no guarantee after that date.

The Moffat County High SchoolMoffat County High School volleyball program will host its summer volleyball clinic July 11 to 14 complete with staff of the Chad Teichert Volleyball Camp. Athletes will receive a minimum of 23 hours worth of instruction in eight sessions, with optional sessions available as well.

The total cost for the program is $180, and organizers require a non-refundable deposit of $80 to reserve their child's spot. The original deadline has been extended to April 20.

BCA Pool League continues its season at The Popular Bar, 24 W. Victory Way.

The league has played 21 weeks of games, with The Untouchables and James Barrett remain the leader the 9-ball league scores, whereas the 8-ball games have a new frontrunner, Out 4 Blood, led by Jay Harris.

BCA's 9-Ball league takes place at 5 p.m. Sundays, consisting of three-person teams with a total of 5 players allowed on teams. The 8-Ball games are at 6 p.m. Mondays, with five-person teams and a total of eight players allowed on teams.

Players must be 21 and over and can qualify for a Las Vegas trip during both nights.

Yearly fees are $20 to play in both leagues and in all other events. Nightly fees are $5 for 9-Ball and $6 for 8-Ball, plus the cost of coins.
