Craig Rummell: Thanks for helping Sportsman Club
During the spring and summer of 2007, Bears Ears Sportsman Club has been able to accomplish material improvements in our ability to carry out the objectives of the club and to encourage and develop shooting sports in the community of Craig.
Our partnership with local law enforcement agencies – Colorado State Patrol, Moffat County Sheriff’s Office, Craig Police Department and the Colorado Division of Wildlife – and the Moffat County 4-H Sharpshooters youth shooting team were considerably enhanced by the receipt of two grants from the NRA Foundation, totaling more than $7,000, which enabled the club to replace and improve the roof on the primary range facility used by our partners for training and practice.
In addition, with generous assistance of Murdoch’s Ranch and Home Supply of Craig, we were able to purchase a safe to improve fire and theft security for the 4H team target rifles.
All of these improvements were made possible by the generosity of the citizens of Craig and the surrounding area, working with the Yampa Valley Friends of the NRA and the NRA Foundation.
All of the monies used in these projects are raised at the Friends of the NRA annual banquet, held each year in Craig. This year’s banquet is Oct. 6 at the Holiday Inn of Craig.
Moffat County is showing a sharp increase in gonorrhea cases after years of declining incidents of the sexually transmitted disease.
