Craig Rummel: 2B’s welfare mentality

To the editor:

While everyone is debating the pros and cons of the lodging tax, one important idea has been missed. The entire county believes “We the People” are being taxed to death.

Almost 50 percent of Americans are on some sort of entitlement program. Welfare recipients don’t care who pays the tab as long as they receive the benefits.

You cannot call yourself a conservative or complain about the amount of taxes we have to pay if you vote for this. Stick to your principles regardless of who pays the bill or who the recipient is.

If you think we’re being taxed too much, then it’s morally wrong to tax anyone else just to benefit ourselves. We will prove that we as a community have a welfare mentality.
