Craig prepping for Capitol Christmas Tree stop

Craig Daily Press Staff Report

Craig residents will have an opportunity today to view the Capitol Christmas tree harvested from the White River Forest on its way to Washington, D.C., starting at 1:30 p.m. in the Pavilion parking lot at the Moffat County Fairgrounds.

Craig Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with other sponsors, has organized a schedule of activities that coincide with the Tree’s stop in Craig, the Chamber announced Monday.

The scheduled activities include:

• Welcome and introduction from Craig mayor Terry Carwile at 1:45 p.m.

• Student recognition at 1:50 p.m.

• Christmas songs performed by Stacey Mathers at 1:55 p.m.

• Group picture — available for purchase online — at 2:05 p.m.

Other activities include:

• Santa Claus distributing candy canes

• Meet Tannenbaum, Craig’s holiday mascot

• Wear your Christmas clothing – hats, pins, shirts, etc.

• Sign the banner that will be displayed with the tree in the White House

• Purchase merchandise, the proceeds of which help offset the cost of getting the tree from Colorado to Washington, D.C.

The event is sponsored by the Craig Chamber, City of Craig, Craig Fire/Rescue, Carrie Hertzog Photography and NAPA Auto Parts.
