Craig Police Department ready to scare off turkey vultures

CRAIG — The Craig Police Department announced on Wednesday, Aug. 29, it is preparing for another round of turkey vulture hazing.

The department will be hazing the vultures to discourage them from roosting in heavily populated areas of Craig.

According to a Wednesday Facebook post by the department, “Police and community service officers will be using bird whistlers and shell crackers to scare off the vultures during evening hours.

The post stressed the vultures would not be killed or harmed in any way.

CPD asks residents to report any locations vultures may be roosting around town, so officers can relocate them.

9:04 a.m. On the 2000 block of West Victory Way, police in Craig responded to a theft call. Craig police said a 35-year-old Craig man was issued a citation on a theft charge after an incident at a local ranch and home supply store.
