Craig hockey swept by Durango in three games
The Craig Bulldogs midget hockey team lost three games in Telluride to the Durango/Telluride team in Colorado Amateur Hockey Association league play.
The Bulldogs now are 0-4 in league play after losing, 8-1, 8-3 and 8-1, on Saturday and Sunday.
In the Saturday game, Ripley Bellio scored Craig’s lone goal on assists from Sarah White and Brenden Spencer. Despite giving up eight goals, Wyatt Bellio made 33 saves protecting the net.
Sunday’s first game saw the Bulldogs get a goal in each period. Tyler Gerber and Trace Walt each scored unassisted, while White scored on a pass from Ripley Bellio in the third period. Austin Magnuson saved 40 shots that came his way in the goal during the defeat.
Craig could only muster one goal in the second game Sunday. Gerber scored on an assist from Kaleb Bugay in the second period which made the score 2-1, but Durango scored twice more in the period and four times in the third to push it well out of reach.
The Bulldogs will host Glenwood Springs at the Moffat County Ice Arena next weekend for two games. They are scheduled to play at 11:15 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
