Craig High school, middle school parents urged to attend ‘Building a Healthy You’ Tuesday, Jan. 23

Safe social media use is one of the topics that will be discussed during the upcoming Building Healthy You course taht aims to help teens and pre-teens make healthy reproductive, social and emotional choices.

CRAIG — Health care providers are collaborating with local schools to help pre-teens and teens gain the knowledge and confidence to make good choices for their health and wellbeing.

“Building a Healthy You covers those tough topics that are hard to have a conversation around, such as pregnancy, waiting to have sex, alcohol and marijuana use, depression and suicide and teen dating violence,” said Dr. Elise Sullivan, an MRH provider.

Building a Healthy You is a collaboration of community health, wellness and safety organizations.

The free educational series will begin with a session for parents from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, at Moffat County High School.

The parent session will be followed by sessions for high school students from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. Jan. 30, Feb. 1, Feb. 6 and Feb. 8.

“There will be prizes and food at each session,” Sullivan said.
