Craig Daily Press welcomes 2 new reporters
The Craig Daily Press welcomes two new reporters to its editorial team this week: Andy Bockelman and Erin Fenner.
Fenner will cover government and law enforcement and Bockelman will cover heath care and education.
Fenner graduated from the University of Idaho in 2011, majoring in journalism. Since graduation, she’s covered a variety of stories for various publications on a freelance basis, including the Wilamette Week in Portland, Ore.
She moved to Craig from Portland and is excited to jump-start her journalism career at the Craig Daily Press.
“I’m excited to be a part of the team and get to know the community,” Fenner said. “It’s a great opportunity, and I’m thrilled to cover the cops and government beats. I look forward to developing a good rapport with the government and law officials in Craig and Moffat County.”
Bockelman is a Craig native who graduated from the journalism program at the University of Northern Colorado in 2009. He worked for various publications, including the Greeley Tribune. For the past few years, he’s freelanced for the Craig Daily Press and the Steamboat Pilot & Today.
“I’ve covered nearly every part of the Craig community in the past several years, and as a Moffat County graduate myself, I especially look forward to working on the education beat. Working with a fantastic boss like Noelle Leavitt Riley will only make this job even better,” Bockelman said.
Managers at the Daily Press are thrilled to have a full editorial staff. Managing Editor Noelle Leavitt Riley is excited to add two dynamic and intelligent journalists to her staff.
“Both Bockelman and Fenner are just the kind of reporters that the newspaper needs to complete our dynamite team that is sure to grow stronger and cover a wider variety of news under their professionalism and journalistic drive,” Leavitt Riley said.
The newspaper’s General Manager, Renee Campbell, is equally excited to have a full staff in the editorial department.
“We are very excited to welcome Erin and Andy as part of our growing team at the Craig Daily Press. Erin comes to us with great enthusiasm and passion for community journalism. Andy is not new to our newsroom or the community but we are excited to have him join us as a full-time reporter and know he will continue to do a tremendous job for us. We’re thrilled to have both reporters on board,” Campbell said.
